What do hair loss and Benign Prostate Hyperplasia have in common? That’s easy. Recent tests are proving that the same things that help fight male prostate problems help men re-grow lost hair!

So, what do you think of that? Can these drugs (Finasteride or Minoxidil) and natural herbs (Saw Palmetto) really help your prostate AND your balding head? Can they stop hair loss from getting worse?

You will hear, “I doubt it!” or “That’s impossible!” and “Fairy Tale!”

But that isn’t what you should think.

It isn’t likely that the American Medical Association or the FDA will offer many studies in the near future to study the effectiveness of natural botanicals in the treatment of BPH or Male Pattern Hair Loss, termed Androgenetic Alopecia. There are bottom-line, practical reasons for the MD community and network to ignore the natural treatments.

If Natural Botanicals are ever proven to be a valid treatment in the prevention of Hair Loss, they will be in direct competition with the fairly new drugs patented. Those drugs which companies have groomed and presented for popular consumption have been given the star treatment. They had to wait a few years before they could be crowned with FDA approval. To date, only Finasteride (brand name, Propecia) has been FDA approved.

You can bet that the reason that Minoxidil has been held back a few years before its FDA approval has more to do with lobbyists in Washington than with its danger or effectiveness in the treatment of anything.

So what are you going to do if your MD or primary care physician will not offer any other treatments for your hair loss? What if he tells you that Homeopathic medicines and herbal cures are a load of folk hooey and will never treat your problem?

What do you do with professionals who offer total absolutes? Ultimate statements like, “Male and Female Hair Pattern Loss is cause by one thing only: Genetics. And treatments which do not treat your hair loss from a genetic causality will never work.”

You may take into account one’s training, which may be impeccable, and his previous record in treating you, which may be excellent. And you should also do something else:

Do yourself a favor and flash-forward two hundred years. Imagine what the physicians of Tomorrow would have to say to any doctor who says the words Only and Never. In the best, most advanced medicine, there is no Only solution, and there is no Never.

Thirty years ago, if the doctor who told you Only and Never had been asked about hair loss treatments, what do you think he would have said then? He would have laughed and told you there was NOTHING you could do about it. And he would not be correct, because discoveries change by the hour. Even as we speak, great explorations are happening now to find new treatments for hair loss.

Quite a few of them are natural and herbal, and they will be tested in clinical trial studies. What is interesting? The cost for a monthly dosage is incredibly economical, when compared to the prescribed treatments. Some people are getting great results for way under $150 per month.

When you start having hair loss, you might not notice it at first. But the second time you actually see a fall-out, a little warning flag begins to fly in the upper left-hand alcove of your mind. If you are just a little bit insecure (and who isn’t, when it comes to physical appearance?) that little flag can become as big as a California King-size sheet. It can become as constant and annoying as a bonus-room sized American Flag flapping and clanging on a giant-sized flagpole right outside your office.

If you are not careful, you may begin to become obsessed with your hair loss problem. Of course, the Popular Misconception could very easily lead you in the wrong direction of a brand new thought-pet: a veritable obsessive-compulsive disorder. It is most commonly defined by guys who find themselves spending way too much time in front of the mirror, fretful and trying to fix the problem of thinning hair.

Some guys begin to think in a not-so-positive light. If you have been looking forlornly at hair commercials featuring models with incredibly thick heads of hair, wondering how you can recover your lost strands, you need to stop it right now.

Oh sure, maybe the commercially driven world has made you think that thick hair is most important physician acumen. In a million ways, you may get the message that women are less attracted to men with thin hair or those who have no hair at all.

Whatever has made you believe this is in error. Maybe it is something somebody told you. Maybe it is something you perceived from a few harsh reactions from surprisingly immature women or men who have gross insecurities that are unnamable and definable only after years of therapy.

The big idea that the man with thinning hair is less sexually attractive to others is wrong-and here’s why. Up to 50% of the human male species experiences some noticeable level of pattern hair loss.

And one of the first concerns, which can become an irritating fear, of young men facing androgenetic alopecia, or male-pattern hair loss– is that the opposite sex will suddenly find them less attractive.

Have you asked 100 women what they think? Their answers might knock your socks off. Would you believe that 50% of those women, questioned in random selections, say that one of the most important qualities in the men of their choice is a healthy sense of humor? And those women said that how much hair you have on your head is way down on their list of importance? That is how women really feel. Why? Because at least 50% of the female population grew up with family men experiencing medium to major hair loss.

They might actually be genetically disposed to prefer men with thinning hair, although a study will have to be done on that, maybe in some Freudian research mecca in Europe.

Of course, you will not see any million-dollar advertising campaigns on television or slick fashion advertising plans to promote some automatic Sense of Humor solution. Nobody can make a buck off of that, because it is really hard to package.

Clear the head and lighten up. It is no small wonder that physicians and researchers have recently discovered that Male Pattern Hair Loss can be triggered by stress. De-stressing your mind is going to help you keep your hair.

You can get some great treatments that actually save your hair. The best ones are 100% natural and botanical in origin. Go for it! But please go for it in full knowledge that the brain beneath the skull is by far your most important acumen, when it comes to your attractiveness and desirability

Losing your hair to where it thins or you become bald does not have to happen. Just by understanding why your hair falls out and thins allows you to take counter measures. Discover what counter measures you need to take to keep your hair full, thick, or from thinning.

There are various ways to keep your hair clean, shiny, and thick. If you still have hair and want to keep it or if your hair is starting to thin out, here are some hair remedies that you can use.

When your hair starts to thin down, three of the reasons are:

* Your hair follicles are slowly becoming plug and preventing hair from growing out

* Your hair is not receiving the nutrients it needs to grow and stay strong

* Your hair is not getting enough blood circulating in your scalp

I will cover only the first of the two items.

Plugged Hair Follicles

Just like acne, your hair follicles can become plugged. In acne a plug follicle results in sebum and bacteria becoming trapped in the follicle, which leads to an infection known as a pimple.

When a hair follicle becomes plugged on your scalp, the hair in that follicle becomes trapped and is prevented from coming to the surface. Over time, your scalp becomes smooth and you become bald or lose most of your hair.

So the secret to preventing hair loss, thinning and balding is to prevent your hair follicles from becoming plugged. Once you know what causes your follicle to plug, you can avoid or counteract those conditions.

Here is what causes your follicles to become plugged.

* Excessive build up of testosterone in blood converting over to DHT and plugging up your hair follicles

* Use of shampoos, conditioners, and gels that contain excessive un-natural chemical that stay on your scalp and get trapped in your follicles

* Excessive release of sebum and scalp flaking mixing together to form a hard material that plugs up your follicles.

DHT Build Up in Your Follicle

It is well known now that excessive conversion of testosterone into DHT accumulates in the hair follicles and plugs. Knowing this you can use a variety of shampoos on your hair to dissolve this DHT. This keeps your pores open and your hair growing normally. You can also take capsules that prevent the conversion of testosterone into DHT.

Un-natural Shampoo and Conditioners

Most shampoos, conditioners, and hair gels are created using petrochemicals, un-natural additives, dyes, preservatives that are harmful to your hair and scalp.

In addition, these un-natural hair product chemicals get into your pores and can plug. Once in the follicle, they also get into your blood and are harmful to your liver and the rest of your body.

Search for more natural shampoo products which contain fewer petrochemicals and have more herbs with natural cleansing chemicals

Excessive Sebum and Scalp Flaking

Some people have oily hair and some dry. When the hair follicle releases excess sebum it accumulates on the scalp. Here it will combine with dirt, dead scalp cells, and shampoo chemical residues.

Using natural remedies reduces the amount of chemical available to combine with excess sebum and dead scalp cells. If you use any type of gel to style your hair these gels combine with sebum to plug up your follicles.

To keep your hair and scalp clean and follicles open, use aloe vera gel mixed with a few drops of jojoba oil. Buy aloe vera gel, 99% pure and pure jojoba oil. Put some aloe vera gel in your hand and add 4-5 drops of jojoba oil. Rub your hands together then rub this mixture into your hair. This mixture will keep your hair shiny and thick and your hair follicles open.

Just making these changes to your hair care will go a long way in keeping your hair from thinning any further.

As early as their mid-teens, some men begin to see signs of thinning hair, and by their twenties and thirties, almost 1/3 of men have some degree of balding. In many cases, this is the result of male pattern baldness, a hereditary condition that affects millions of men.

In addition to male pattern baldness, there are other causes of balding in men. Loss of hair can be a side effect of stress, pollution, infections, some medications, and exposure to dangerous chemicals. Vitamin deficiencies can also play a role in hair loss, particularly deficiencies in iron or zinc.

Whatever the cause, dealing with hair loss is difficult, and can even impact self-confidence. Finding effective treatments for balding can be confusing. The choices are many: strong chemical treatments, hair-replacement surgery, or even wearing a hair piece. But in today’s health conscious society, many men are looking for natural solutions for thinning hair. They are increasingly discovering the benefits of organic hair care products and selecting this natural, healthy way to care for their scalp and hair.

Fortunately, a wide variety of organic hair care products are now available. These organic products are beneficial to keeping existing hair healthy and stimulating hair growth, without exposing the skin and scalp to even more chemicals that may exacerbate the problem. As with organic foods, no pesticides or hormones are used, which makes natural hair care products an attractive option for treating a not-so-attractive condition.

There are many causes of hair loss, but if you aren’t keeping your body in check with a common sense health regime then more than likely you’re contributing to your own hair fall. This is especially true if:

1. You don’t exercise. If you do not exercise then the chances are tiny capillaries supplying blood to the scalp are becoming smaller and smaller. This shrinkage reduces the capillaries capacity to supply nutrients to follicles for hair growth. Eventually the follicle will recede then permanently die. At the very least go for a brisk walk once or twice a week, better yet go cycling or swimming.

2. You are still smoking. Not only does smoking cause capillaries to shrink but it also causes the damage to the DNA in the hair follicles. Damaged DNA cannot make the necessary proteins for new hair growth. Not only that, but also smoking causes a rise in free radicals. Free radicals are a destructive force in the body and can cause inflammation. Inflammation is strongly linked with hair loss.

3. You don’t eat healthily. If your body is not receiving enough nutrients to sustain itself efficiently then it will sacrifice functions like hair growth to keep more vital functions running. A healthy balanced diet means eating plenty of protein, healthy levels fats (cut down on saturated fats, but increase the healthy ones) and getting carbohydrates from mainly complex sources such as brown rice and whole grain bread. Just as vital are vitamins and minerals, at the very least you should be getting a total of five fruits and vegetables a day – the more the better. Adding a daily multivitamin tablet on top of that will help too. Other health food stuff like green tea may also help prevent balding.

4. You don’t relax. Stress is a massive factor in premature balding. Anxiety causes stress hormones to be released into the body, some of those hormones are devastating to hair growth. Sleep is a big factor in this, getting adequate deep sleep can really help balance your hormone levels. Yoga and meditation are two other great ways to try and relieve stress.

There are many more things you can do to prevent hair loss, some big things and some not so big things. For example did you know regular shampoo causes hair loss? Visit Chris Bhurrut’s HairLossBuddy.com for more advice on hair loss.

What does ancient horsetail have to do with hair loss treatment? Horsetail is only one of the oldest forms of plant life on the planet! This simplest of plants, a pale green reed, grows all over the world in damp ditches and moist ground. Some have taken it from the wild and transplanted it for its primitive appeal, but there is more to it than its arty profile in the garden, especially if you’re suffering from any form of hair loss.

It is perfectly hollow as a drinking straw, with a moist and silky interior lining. This is where the natural silica lies, along the inside lining, pale green to glistening white. Because of the extra-fine silica within horsetail, it has been effective in strengthening hair growth, nails and teeth. The body easily absorbs the microscopic silica. Usually, it is not a singular treatment for hair loss but is added to enrich natural hair loss formulas that are taken orally. It is present in several hair restoration complexes that have impressive records of success and replenishment.

In taking horsetail, one needs to be careful not to ingest too much tea or tablet, because it is a source of nicotine. Presently, the freeze-dried capsule is the most potent form of this reed that was brushing the toes of the dinosaurs.

Liquid extract is also available and should be diluted in water and drank. Some prefer to make a tea from dried horsetail: one Tablespoon of crushed herb to one Cup of hot, not boiling, water. A scant teaspoon of sugar is said to aid the release of silica.

Whereas Horsetail was traditionally used in homeopathic medicine as a bone-strengthener, Flaxseed Oil has a different story. It is a rich source of lignans. Lignans are a substance that has corrected Prostate problems, specifically benign enlargement. Lignans are known to positively affect hormone-related problems-and that includes Male Pattern Hair Loss (MPHL).

Male Pattern Hair Loss is often caused by a specific hormone problem, when Testosterone morphs into Dehydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT usually plagues the hair follicles of men who are experiencing serious hair loss. Flax seed oil is thought to be an inhibitor of DHT. It has not been proven in a laboratory study, but some bright, investigative type will discover the evidence soon.

Scientists in clinical studies have found that certain drugs, which are excellent in treating the enlarged benign prostate, are also effective in halting hair loss. That is, they make good hair loss treatment remedies! Medical scientific research has yet to pay close attention to the fact that there are quite a few natural herbals that have proven most effective in treating prostate enlargement.

Homeopathic apothecaries and pharmacists believe that if a natural drug works to correct hormonal alterations and aberrations, including BPH (Benign Prostate Hyperplasia), then they may also stop Male Pattern Hair Loss. Go figure!

Often, these natural herbals become more powerful as complexes with greater results when joined together. Horsetail and Flax Seed Oil are like that.

What is most remarkable about treating hair loss with natural botanicals? Instead of suffering unexpected side effects, you get the additional benefits for which the herb was traditionally administered!

Looking for a good hair loss organin? Maxim Magazine calls it a “Cool Gadget” for dealing with hair loss or male pattern balding. Some people think a Drimmel tool is just as cool a gadget. Sometimes pro football teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers pull off some “Gadget plays” which earn them a Super Bowl victory. And then there’s Gadget, who is Gidget’s cousin. How cute can it possibly be, the cool gadget that causes your hair to grow in fuller and thicker than ever before?

It’s the HairMax Laser Comb that claims to “energize” your hair by merely combing it through what is left. It works, they say, from Light Therapy. The company claims to have great results from “more and more professionals.” How many, you may ask, is more and more?

It claims to send laser light energy into your hair and energize hair growth, which sounds interesting in a Sci-Fi sort of way.

You just comb it through your hair for ten minutes twice a week, and Voila! New thicker hair may be yours. It could happen. That’s the iffy qualifier that reveals loads of info for the inquiring mind.

May work and might work. But you won’t find out, will you, unless you can pay $245 down and then send in $113 for four months following?

A hundred years ago there were traveling salesmen who sold little black boxes with little metallic crank knobs. They claimed that if you wound the crank, you could generate an electric current that would cause all of your physical ailments to disappear if the “electrical charge” was applied.

If you browse through antique stores, you will eventually see one of these precursors to Electro-shock therapy, probably sitting in a dusty corner. There are collectors who will pay a little bit for the odd box that sends a charge that heals all bodily plagues.

Maybe someday, a hundred years from now, there will still be antique collectors who will be amused at the laser comb that claimed to grow your hair back, and at least make it healthier and thicker by its scientific (sort of) claims.

Maybe it will work for you. If you spend over five hundred dollars on such a Cool Gadget, you will truly want it to work in the worst way. You might even imagine that it really works to keep from admitting that you made a mistake.

Isn’t that how government officials justify big-spend legislation? They imagine a lot. But your thinning hair is not the government.

Before you send five hundred dollars down the river, for a laser light comb, you should try some natural herbal treatments that have been proven by actual laboratory tests to stop hair loss and even cause new hair to begin. You can get started on a proven natural formula that will cost you less than a tenth of the price of the laser light energy comb.

But then, you won’t have such a quaint object waiting in its dusty box in the attic, for your great grandchildren to marvel over.

Protein and amino acids for hair growth

Many people ask me what proteins are most appropriate for hair growth. People with hair loss often turn to protein and amino acid supplements as part of their treatment regime. Although it is rare for a lack of protein to be a primary cause of hair loss, there is no harm in taking extra protein or amino acid supplements if you wish for your hair growth. If you take a blood test your serum total protein should be between 60–80 grams per liter. Less than this suggests a problem with protein intake. And you may take some of the protein supplements now available as either as powder protein supplements or liquid protein supplements. Soya bean protein is considered good for hair growth but take care not to take it in excess other wise it can have some negative affect.

Amino acids and proteins

Much importance has been given to proteins for hair growth. Protein serves as the major structural component of all cells in the body, and functions as enzymes, in membranes, as transport carriers, and as some hormones. During digestion and absorption dietary proteins are broken down to amino acids which serve as the building blocks for formation of structural proteins and functional compounds of protein such as enzymes and pre cursors of hormones etc. There are 20 amino acids in all which are required for the synthesis of proteins.

Proteins for hair growth

But out of which some of the amino acids cannot be synthesized by the body and are therefore are required to be taken as dietary amino acid supplements if you wish to take them to stimulate your hair growth. The amino acids: Phenylalanine, Valine, Tryptophan, Threonine, Isoleucine, Methionine, Histidine Arginine, Lysine Leucine are considered to be essential amino acids. But the distinction between essential and non-essential amino acids is not very clear, as some amino acids can be produced from others. For example the sulfur containing amino acids, methionine and homocysteine can be converted into each other but neither can be synthesized de novo in humans. Likewise, cysteine can be synthesized from homocysteine, but not otherwise. So, for convenience, sulfur-containing amino acids are sometimes considered a single pool of nutritionally-equivalent amino acids.

Hair follicles require a constant supply of amino acids via the blood stream to maintain hair growth. Hair follicles contain some of the fastest growing and dividing cells in the body so their energy, vitamin, mineral, and amino acid consumption is high. If amino acids are lacking, particularly the essential amino acids listed above, the hair follicles may be less able to produce hair fiber.

Benefits of amino acids

A lack of amino acids in a first world country diet is very unusual and for the most part supplements are not required. However, everyone should ensure they have a healthy, balanced diet that provides all the amino acids required. There are many amino acids, but the nine amino acids which are known as essential amino acids must be provided in the diet and are indispensable amino acids which are required for both hair and other functions of the body. The body can make the other 11 amino acids needed to synthesize specific structures from the nine essential amino acids and carbohydrate precursors.

Protein supplements

Proteins from animal sources, such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs, milk, cheese, and yogurt, provide all nine indispensable amino acids in adequate amounts and for this reason are considered “complete proteins”. Proteins from plants, legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, and vegetables tend to be deficient in one or more of the indispensable amino acids and are called ‘incomplete proteins’. Vegetarian and vegan diets may contain enough protein, but people following these diets may not be receiving all the essential amino acids if they do not pay attention to the type of protein they eat. Vegan diets adequate in total protein content can be “complete” by combining sources of incomplete proteins which lack different indispensable amino acids.

Amino acid function for hair

In terms of hair fiber production, the most important amino acid is cysteine. Cysteine is the most common amino acid in hair. It is particularly important because it contains sulfur molecules. As part of a keratin protein chain, these sulfur molecules cross link with each other to produce disulfide bonds. These chemical bonds are what gives hair its strength. For this reason the most popular amino acid supplement taken for hair is cysteine.

Besides the proteins, nutritional diet vitamin supplements and safe herbal supplements are the best diet supplements for hair growth.

There are many nutritional herbal supplements which are good for hair care. Find out natural hair care products and secrets and some fast hair growth tips to take care of your hair the natural way.

Ok so you know someone, you are someone, or you’ve seen someone who sports excessive unwanted hair in the manner of an overgrown creature from a B-grade fright flick. It’s not only men that can suffer from excessive unwanted hair, but women as well. 30000 years before there were New York laser hair removal centers, Manhattan natives were most probably far hairier than they are now, but times change….slowly. It was still as recently as 1977 that Saturday Night Fever showed us how sexy a hairy chested man could be, “not that there’s anything wrong with that”.

Today we all still have body hair to varying degrees, but for an increasing number, it seems to be far more fashionable to have the sleek smooth hairless look. The caveman (I just came back from a big hunt and I’m sweating) look seems to be on the decline…

So maybe you live in Manhattan, you’re a successful professional with back hair and maybe you’re comfortable not being as smooth as a dolphin. On the other hand you might be the type who doesn’t want to take your shag carpet to the gym and unleash it on the beautiful fashionistas and you’re looking for the best New York laser hair removal options. Likewise, maybe you’re an aerobics instructor in a swank uptown gym and you’re tired of waxing or shaving to keep the Amazon rainforest in check and you want to find out more about laser hair removal New York style? Whatever you case is, here is a brief introduction to permanent hair removal by laser and how laser hair removal works.

In a nutshell laser hair removal works by using special types and frequencies of laser light to destroy hair follicles. The process works because the laser light targets melanin, which is the pigment in hair follicles. Laser light heats up the melanin destroying structures in the follicle without damaging surrounding tissue.

Various types of lasers are used in the process and may include the Nd:Yag CoolGlide laser and the GentleLase alexandrite laser.

Laser hair removal is generally regarded as a hair reduction technique and usually takes several treatments to get best results. This is because the hair follicles must be treated when they are in their growth phase. As hair grows in cycles, typically only 30% of hair cells will be growing at any time. Darker course hair tends to respond best, with blonde and red hair generally not responding as well to treatment.

Costs of using New York laser hair removal centers don’t tend to be any higher than any other cities in the U.S. Prices will depend on what area you are getting treated and more importantly the size of the area. Keep in mind that several laser treatments will probably be needed on most areas and thus the cost can multiply too.

Whether it’s on men or women: leg hair, back hair, chest, arm, and bikini or just about anywhere else, laser hair removal seems to be the way of the future.

There are plenty of New York laser hair removal clinics and many in Manhattan. The best bet is to hit the web for as much information as possible and start hunting to find a reputable center, and check their qualifications and history.

Here’s to being dolphin smooth!

Shaving legs is by far the most popular method of hair removal for women. As much as we hate it, we do it on fairly regular basis. Some of us even every day.

But there is much more to shaving than just a razor, a little bit of soap and water. If you want to prevent the annoying cuts, razor rash and ingrown hair and get the closest shave possible, then I suggest you read the following tips and implement them into your daily shaving routine.

Ready? Let’s go shaving legs!

Tip # 1

Invest a few dollars and get a good razor. The disposable ones are not designed to do as good of a job as the reusable ones. You will definitely get a closer shave and avoid nicks with the more expensive one.

Tip # 2

Don’t forget to change your blades frequently. Using a dull razor will give you a razor rash, nicks and a chance for ingrown hair.

Tip # 3

Do not go shaving legs right after getting out of bed in the morning. Your skin is more puffy at that time of the day and your stubble is not as visible. You will get a closer shave if you wait about 30 minutes.

Tip # 4

If you shave your legs in a bath, you must know that your skin will shrivel in under 10 minutes which will make the stubble disappear somewhat. The solution? Shave your legs within the first 10 minutes in the tub.

Tip # 5

Exfoliate your legs with a body scrub or a loofah. That will get rid of dead skin cells that will otherwise clog up the razor. Plus it will give you soft and smooth skin.

Tip # 6

Do not apply your shaving lotion onto dry skin. Wet your legs for at least 2 minutes first. When your skin is hydrated, your hair will stand up and you’ll get a closer shave.

Tip # 7

Once the shaving lotion is on your legs, allow it to sit there for a couple of minutes. That will hydrate your skin even more.

Tip # 8

Please do not use plain soap. I know we’ve all done it more than we care to admit. But the problem with soap is, that it will not only dry your skin out, but also the razor will not glide smoothly and it might give you a few cuts and a rash.

So there you have it. Your basic rules for shaving legs that will give you the closest shave possible and in the long run will save you some time, as you will not need to shave as often as you usually do.
